The Magnificent Ulysses Butterfly... metallic blue cruiser on the wing, Magnetic Island North Queensland Australia- Standard 3:2 ratio, Open Edition prints

from $90.00

These very large, iconic butterflies of North Queensland are a phenomenal in the contrast between the flat dull brown underside of their wings and the ultra iridescent blue of the top surface. They spend an inordinate amount of time on the wing sliding in and out of shadows in the under-story of the tropical rain forests, and when they do finally alight - they disappear from view into those shadow as they fold up their wings immediately. I was luck to catch this one in flight and out in bright sunlight too. A moment later it was gone for the day, a mere mirage in the dimly light canopy.

These images are all wide ratio panorama with a 3:2 long edge to short edge ratio. They are printed on 280gms quality photo paper with rich permanent inks and crisp resolution across the frame.
