Stunning male Cairns Birdwing Butterfly with greens, yellows, turquoise and red, all set off by deep black, Magnetic Island North Queensland Australia- Standard 3:2 ratio, Open Edition prints
The male of the species for the Cairns Birdwing Butterfly really takes things to the extreme for “colourful”. His splendid appearance is difficult to miss in the tropical rain forests of Far North Queensland. However, it’s not always easy to see the detail as they constantly flit and fly about under the cool, dark canopy. Enjoying the high levels of humidity and searching for a mate. Habitat loss is the biggest threat to it’s survival and the specific native host plant it needs for the females to lay eggs upon.
These images are all wide ratio panorama with a 3:2 long edge to short edge ratio. They are printed on 280gms quality photo paper with rich permanent inks and crisp resolution across the frame.
