Lake Minewanka frozen in the night near Banff AB, Canada - Open Edition Standard 3:2 ratio Print

from $90.00

In Summer, Lake Minewanka is a major draw card for boating and canoeing in the Canadian Rockies. So much so that it enjoys a floating cafe and boat jetty in the centre of the Lake. Situated on the edge of Banff National Park, and encircled by the Mountains of the Bow Valley, this literal oasis of beauty takes on another look entirely in winter. Its waters freezing over with a layer at least 6 inches thick in most parts. The floating jetty and its cabins become frozen in a solid ice-tray. At night, when temperatures plummet and skies are clear, a whole raft of stars reveal themselves as if making a twinkling blanket across the iced waters. Thick enough to walk or skate on, the only deterrent is the occasional loud “boooom”, that reverberates around the mountain walls as sheets move and jostle against one another, even the bravest hiker glance over their shoulder. Other than at these moments, then if there is a “sound of silence” it can be heard here.

  • This is an open-edition print in either a lustre (semi-gloss) or matt finish.

  • All sizes are listed in inches with a 3:2 ratio

  • Images are printed borderless and ready for mounting/framing

  • Prices exclude GST - 10% GST will be added at checkout

  • Shipping can be arranged for Australia or world wide as tracked poster tubes.
