The Aurora Borealis begins to fire up over this Ice Dome home in the middle of a frozen Great Slave Lake in the North West Territories of the Canadian Arctic. Its late February and the middle of the night when the temperatures fall to a crazy -44 degrees centigrade. Still these small structures are enough to block the wind chill and soon provide a few more degrees of warmth. The light show outside lures though, and it rushes across the sky in multi shades of greens and burgundy like the schools of salmon rushing up a snow melt stream in the summer months. These shafts and curtains of light captured here are the only “window dressing” this light abode needs as there are few neighbours around for miles and miles. A single shot panorama with an ultra-high resolution camera.
