The Hawaiian Islands are an archetypal tropical paradise for many. The Island of Oahu like the other islands in this archipelago was formed from volcanic eruptions deep below the surface of the Pacific. Hanauma Bay, the remnant of a long since dormant crater. As the edge of the crater was eroded many years ago, the ocean tides swept in and out flushing the new shallow “bowl” with fresh water. This formed perfect conditions for coral formations which subsequently produced a perfect habitat for splendidly colourful coral fish and crustaceans.
