There are many species of Heron and they have been successful across the world. The Great Grey Heron is resident on at least two continents, this one here is in BC Canada. Perched very near the top of a huge conifer it was motionless for much of the days, clearly resting on what was a very drizzly day. The forest here was just to the north of Vancouver and sat along the edge of a deep river ravine, obviously a source of great food.
