The Central Coast on the northern edge of Tasmania is rich in Oceanside drives, but few are as rewarding as that which runs on either side of the town of Penguin. To the east are intricate bays and craggy island rocks such as Goat Island and to the west in contrast are the gentler, sweeping arcs of more open bays such as Preservation Bay seen here. The high vantage point with the open pasture and woodland descending straight down to the sea is the epitome of an idilic “Ocean Bluff”. Exposed as it is to all four seasons, some bright and sunny and gentle, others cold, harsh and incredibly wild are what delivers it’s diverse appearance and array of moods and scenes with the one underpinning geological form.
