Red Deer Stag calling for his Doe, Cheshire UK - Open Edition Standard 3:2 ratio Print
In the woodlands of the English countryside through November and late Autumn, there often is an unmistakable sound on the breeze - that of a Red Deer Stag bellowing to his harem of female Does. Asserting his dominance over rival males. The ever patient Does accommodate this behaviour for perhaps a few tender moments in a quiet part of the woods, where they can dream this “Gent” is all theirs. The stag of course does his best to perpetuate this illusion, and continues calling and bellowing right up to the most intimate moment. The dim glow of the woodlands toward the end of autumn is almost the perfect setting for this, with the chance of a late afternoon deep red sun dropping below the cloud base to deliver an equally illusionary warmth. She appears to be unimpressed by his serenade at this point, but remained long enough to be carrying their fawn through to next Spring.
This is an open-edition print in either a lustre (semi-gloss) or matt finish.
