The serenity of these pools of waterlily Lotus blooms is never disturbed by the graceful Great White Egret. Delicately threading their way through the Lilly-pads with the elegance of a ballerina, making as few ripples as possible so as not to scare away the aquatic life they feed on. In far North Queensland, these birds are frequent inhabitants of the wetland areas, but really come into their own toward the end of the wet season when the billabongs are rich with food and brightly coloured with the blossoms seen here.
