Late Autumn along the Ice Fields Parkway - a view of Lake Peyto in Blue, Alberta Canada - Open Edition Standard 3:2 ratio Print

from $90.00

The colours of moraine filled waters in Lake Peyto are simply jaw dropping. It was one of those occasions when shooting nature photography when you simply just stop and stand there with the camera silent on the tripod, trying to comprehend the vision in front of you. Lake Peyto is huge - what you see here is 2.8 Km in length! It sits high in the Rocky Mountains at an elevation of 1,860m not far from Jasper in the Banff National Park. I was so lucky to get here on a fresh Autumn day, hiking in from the Parkway. As an uphill trail, so you don’t know what you will see, the pines parted and bam! We were on the edge of a granite outcrop looking across the turquoise gem. Caldron Peak providing much of the snow melt and run off that delivers this colour. Mt Patterson is in the distance as we look up Bow Valley. Yes, these colours really are this intense. It is one of only a few shots that I suggest printing on metal to truly sustain the deep vibrance of the colour of the day.
