This sweeping valley created from the power of galcial river flows over millennia is breath taking. On a clear day such as this you are treated to a vision all the way along toward Johnston Canyon, with Pilot Mountain on the left edge of the valley. The snow in winter here can drift up to five and six feet deep, and temperatures drop below -20 degree centigrade. That just adds to the atmosphere. There is a quietness in these mountains that forces contemplation of a timescale we would otherwise be oblivious to, and a sense of perspective that is truly humbling in the best of ways.
